Moments

Michèle Cooke

Ice-green sea at dawn
Seagulls roar above the waves
Drop behind the clouds

On washed velvet grass
Crow with malevolent smile
Stabs a worm who sleeps.

Brown flash through leaf-meal
Whiskers quivering beady-eyed
Runs into the dark.

Bullocks on ancient
Hilltop
Frolic in evening
Haze
Tractor splutters,
Leaves fall.

Mist shrouds
Heathered hills
A peewit calls
To her unseen mate
And the silver
Sleeping sea.
